I’m not sure there are a lot of reviews online about this place and I’m wondering why – cos… I mean, it’s great!
I have been there so many times, they finally gave me a loyalist form to fill out today. Perhaps I qualify for some discounts in the future, who knows?
Any-who! Food Shack: an incredibly small corner on Ologun Agbaje Street, Victoria Island, Lagos; yet a gem. If you’re looking for Jollof rice that is different from the regular “party jollof”, it’s the place for you.
First time I went there I was in love with the setting. It’s really small and quiet, with just about enough sunlight to let your selfies and foodgram to pop.
The perfect space to have an intimate lunch or dinner. The menu was well put together, and I love their food presentation, the way they serve food in wooden trays, and mini glass jugs.
Their food is incredibly affordable for what you get, and with 5,000 you can bag yourself a delicious meal! (Excluding drinks oh)
Most of their drinks range from 2,000NGN and above. On this particular day I had water which cost 500NGN.
They have fresh juices which I really like cause they are a good healthy alternative. Their chapman is also quite nice so you can give that a try as well.
Today, I had their jollof rice and turkey wings!!! One word – Amaze-balls. Or is that two words? Anyway, It was so good that I had about 2 days ago and I knew I had to come back for more.
The jollof rice is made with basmati rice and tastes so different from anything I’ve ever had. Their turkey wings are well seasoned, spicy and utterly delicious. It was a delightful experience in my stomach. Believe it or not; my meal cost just about 4,000 NGN
Turkey wings – 2,900NGN
Rice – 1,000NGN
My friend who I went with had the jollof but with spicy chicken wings and plantain. The chicken wings aren’t as spicy as I’d have liked them to be though, it was more of a ketchup based dressing, which was okay, but definitely not my kind of spicy. The plantain was on point.
They have a diverse menu on which you can find items like sharwama, steak, ribs, lamp chops & more on there. I’ve also tried their Strawberry Mojito cocktail which was really sweet.
The ambience is always great and quiet. You can request to have music played from their iPod, which has a great selection of tracks, I must admit. The customer service is also top notch, the waiters are really friendly and smart.
However, one thing I should mention is that their food takes a long while to come, but surely not before you die from hunger. Plus the quality of the food makes it worth the wait. Their portions are also pretty good.
Overall, I’d give them a solid 8 out of 10!
